Wolverine-Themed PlayStation 5 Consoles And Controllers Drop In September

2 min read

Sony is leaning heavily into the hype for Marvel’s Wolverine by announcing a series of themed hardware releases set to drop on September 15, coinciding perfectly with the game’s highly anticipated launch. The centerpiece of the collection is a limited edition PS5 Digital Edition bundle that pairs the console with a matching controller and a game code. Both the machine and the gamepad feature a striking battle yellow aesthetic accented by claw marks and artwork of Logan himself, giving gamers a way to showcase their fandom right in their living rooms.

For players who already own a PlayStation 5, Sony is offering swappable console covers so they don’t have to buy an entirely new system to join in on the fun. These covers are available in the signature yellow for both the Slim and Pro models, though owners of the high end PS5 Pro have an additional option called Adamantium, which replaces the bright yellow with a sleek silver finish. While the main bundles will be found at select retail stores, these specific covers and the silver controllers will remain exclusive to PlayStation’s official online store.

However, the announcement arrives amid significant tension between Sony and its community. Many fans have expressed frustration over the bundled console’s lack of a disc drive, reflecting a broader anger regarding Sony’s plan to phase out physical media by 2028. This controversy is compounded by recent pricing trends, as these collectibles carry premiums following two separate rounds of hardware price hikes within the last year. Despite these grievances, collectors can expect to pay roughly six hundred fifty dollars for the full bundle or eighty five dollars for individual themed controllers.
